Own research with innovational projects
We see research as a key business driver that enables solid company growth.
For this reason, we invest heavily in research, and our research facilities are staffed by a full team of well-trained geneticists who direct the breeding programs towards obtaining successful fruit and vegetable varieties for the national and international markets.
Research projects
Due to their great appeal, certain highly sought-after aspects are being addressed in specific research projects.
Our research activity has been recognized on several occasions with the innovative enterprise award, from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.
LERESUR 2
Mildew-resistant lettuce,
Bremia lactucae, in southeastern Spain.
VITAMELO
Melons with a high content of beneficial nutrients
TRADITOM
Traditional tomatoes with improved disease resistance and yield, that preserve their traditional appearance and flavor.
In the area of phytopathology, trials with plant pathogens are designed to identify resistant lines, new inoculation techniques are developed, and disinfection protocols are determined, so as to maintain good quality control of our seeds.
We also stay in contact with specialized laboratories and other experimental centers. Moreover, we have a close relationship with national and international government administrations, in matters of plant health.
Research objectives.
The research objectives are very wide ranging. These include incorporating resistances to pathogens; and obtaining varieties with high vigor and yields, uniform fruits, good shelf life, and high nutritional quality.
Other aims are adaptability to different crop cycles and climates, and of course, to consumer tastes.
In-house research is complemented by projects carried out in collaboration with universities and government organizations. Biotechnology tools such as molecular markers, physicochemical analysis of fruits, bioassays (resistance analysis) and haploid doubles are frequently used.

We have more than 85,000 m2 between Almería, Murcia and different cities in Italy dedicated 100% to our own research and development of varieties that adjust to market trends.
Our team of geneticists develop breeding programs in tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, melons, eggplants, and zucchini.
